Krusty Is With Me Once Again:)

Dear every one,

Krusty is back in my life! Here's the scoop.

My bff Aranka REALLY wants a Dwarf Hamster, so when I came over to her house to hang, and she said the we could go to the pet store.

I found myself at the pet store, and of course you know me, I went straight to the crab-crabs. I scanned my eye's around and there he was, a crab that looked exactly like my beloved Krusty. Same shell, color, and get this, he was in the molting process too.

It only took two beggs for my mom to say yes we can get him. When my mom picked me up we went over to the pet store to pick up the crab. Also Aranka got to come with me!

It was tricky finding him, because there was another crab with the same shell. but I just looked for the crab that had his eyes tucked in and his legs out(thats what they do in the molting process.)

I wanted to help him because I could not help Krusty the way I can now.

Before I tell you more about the crab, I want to tell you what happened at the pet store.

Next to the crab aquarium, a turtle was in a small plastic bin (with the lid off) because his cage needed cleaning. I reached down and touched his shell, and he hissed at me! I came back, ten minutes later to look at him after looking at the beautiful underwater vibrant hermit crabs.

the turtle saw me looking at him, and he hissed at me, for no reason! he never hissed at Aranka!

But pretty soon he stopped hissing for good at us.

When my mom took me back later to get the crab like I was telling you, Aranka wanted to hold one of the hamsters, one bit her. Then she held another one, and he didn't.

Later back at home, Krusty jr. was excited about his new home.

He spent two days on the sponge after running around, then is still sleeping right now.

The set up the pet store had pebbles and not even in the sponge in the water!

At the store we asked the store guy if he can take out the hedgehog and he said "sure" and they were sleeping and yes, he woke up the white and brownish hedgehog and weird Sarah touched

the hedgehog and it poked her even though he didn't mean it and the hedgehog was grouchy

but Sarah forgave him. The other hedgehog was a cream white.

Help!

Dear Readers:

I need some help with a project I am working on. Tell your friends and family and spread the word. I am trying to put outdoor animals back in their habitat. This is the form I sent to the petstores around me that sell animals.

I believe that it is wrong to trap wild animals. They should not be in captivity. Yes it is true I have hermit crabs and they belong outside. I will NOT be getting anymore. Some animals can deal with being in captivity because their habitat is easier to make and they are more sedentary, such guinea pigs.

This is a list of animals that should not be in captivity, you will notice a lot of them....

• iguanas
• snakes
• birds
• fish
• snails
• ferrets
• dragons
• lizards
• chameleon
• uromastyx

Think about if you were that animal and you were being shipped from your habitat, not being treated right by some humans.

Plus you can still make money off cute little rodents, cats and dogs. But before you turn me down, please all I ask is that you think about it. And maybe even not all those animals, just a few.

The Magic Appearing Guinea Pig

Last night I was with my friend Aranka and we were taking my poggles out and Red ran behind a space in the closet where the cages are. She was there for a little while and I was playing on a website called Club Penguin. Aranka used to have guinea pigs and she really wanted to play with mine, so she said, "Can I take Red out?"

I said, "Red's already out. She's behind the closet."

She said, "No...she's in her cage. Look!"

I still said, "No she's noooooot. That couldn't be possible!"

I looked and there she was--eating some hay! I couldn't believe it. The cage was bent a little because it's the type you have to put together. But that's the amazing appearing guinea pig! The end!

Just updating the max day entry thingy. Not much to say about his visit today.
He gased my pigs out. not very pleasent. Thats about it. I probably won't do entrys every day because there is not much to say.

Like I said a couple entries ago, I was going to write about my experiences with him everyday. But as you can seeI have not done that in a couple of days. Not much to say!:/ (that means bored)

There is a local dog-o-mat and you get to wash the dogs yourself, but it not much of a hassle as long as your dog stays under control. You get help if you need it. Max stinks really bad. My mom and I want to take him there, but we just haven't had the time yet.

Today, January 27, my SUPER-babysitter, Christie, came over (www.dailyphotosbychristie.blogspot.com). She's doing a "Project 365" project where she posts photos every day for a year. But back to what I was saying. I came home from school and she was sitting on the couch. Max was right there next to her and from about a couple squares of the sidewalk away, he noticed me. He wasn't exactly quite looking out the window; his head was down. We started playing "Would you rather?" and all of a sudden he started climbing up on Christie--putting his paws on her shoulders kind of licking her but not really touching her face. She got him off, but he went right back. It was very funny. He started growling at the dogs across the street. I had enough, so we came in here (office) typing my blog entry. That's pretty much it!

PLEASE HELP!

Hi everyone,
I just got an e-mail from the human society, and they have been working on a BIG case.
This dog named Niko was rescued 149 days ago and needs your help.
I'm sad to say that I can't get the pictures on this entry but if you want them, reply on comments and leave me your e-mail and I will send them to you. They are not horrific pictures, only almost all the furrs gone, and its a picture from the back so nothing intolerable.
It also shows a after picture and he looks like nothing had ever happened. you could not even tell he is 14!

The human society has spent thousands of dollars to get him back to health.
There is a hearing on Feb. 4th. I need you to write the judge, and tell him in very polite way that, animal cruelty is a very serious crime, and that, that dog is a living, breathing, creature, and that his treatment was unacceptable. his owner should have been held accountable and he deserves a new family now.
Like i said make sure to put that his care cost thousands of dollars and that the owner should of paid that.

Please help me out with this.

crab emergency!

HI people of earth!
Last night i had a crab emergency!
When your crab cage starts to smell fishy (keep in mind it could be the food) it most of the times means your little Buddy has passed!:(

Every time that happened to me my little fella passed.

I had not cleaned my crab cage in a REALLY long time and i mean really!
I bent my head down and smelled the cage and it smelled like my fella passed. We had to go and take a friend to a airport and i was almost hysterical!

I came back home and my room stunk. I decided weather or not my crab had passed on, the cage needed a clean. So i made my mom do the dirty work. Every time my crabs had died i was the one to find out first.
I remember one time I came home from school and Krusty was not moving. My mom told me she think hes not alive any more, but later on i proved her wrong.

Any way back to what I was saying.

I did not want to deal with a dead crab even though I love fuzzwuzz dearly. ( I knew it was not Eugene because i saw him two nights before.)
My crabs LOVE to hide under the water dish like i said, and that was the first thing to come out of the cage. Right as the dish came out the whole thing stopped stinking!
I WAS FILLED WITH JOY! I took my crabs out, put them in a box and cleaned the cage.
I never though I was going to see Fuzzy ever again.
Remember don't freak out right away if something like this happens. Clean the cage check to see if they are missing a leg (legs grow back) before you freak out.

Today we are pet sitting for a dog named Max (I call him Maximillian). He is a mix--I know he is part black lab, but I don't really know the other breeds in him. His owner's going away for about two months starting today. Today is the first day, and as you can see this is the first day we are pet sitting him.



Max is full grown. He is six years old. Very playful and HYPER. The reason Max is so very strong is because his owner, Archie, feeds him raw meat. If you think about it, in the wild they wouldn't be finding dog food. They would be finding raw meat including the juice and skin and maybe a few bones. But mostly just meat. Here's a list of the foods Max gets a lot:

• Liver (but he doesn't eat it a lot--only if he is really hungry)


• Burger


• Little bit of egg


• Steak


• Cooked chicken from dinner

• stock and much more!

And those are mainly the things that he eats. If you want to know more about that, just leave a comment on my blog and I will reply to it so just check back in. I will update you almost every day with a few short entries about how my day is going with Max and my other animals. It's kind of like a diary, but about animals. I will only be doing that until Max leaves. I will post entries every other day or so. That's it for now!

Take a Break from Crabs

I promised you in my last entry I was going to tell you a little bit about crabs and how they die and stuff like that, but I want to tell you a little bit about my guinea pigs just for this entry (or maybe two). Here are some pictures of them.

Like I said in my first entry, my guinea pigs' names are Oreo, Red, and Mini. I call Oreo "Oreo." I call Red "Red" or "Big Red," "Stupid Stinky," or "Chucky Chunks." I call Mini "Mini," "Mini Marshmallow," "Gilbert," "Mini Gilbert," "Bebe," "Bebe Boy," or "Mini Bebe." Red and Oreo are sisters even though they don't look anything alike. Here's the history of all my pigs.

First I got Red and we had got her cage, litter, cedar ships (makes them sick so never give that to them), Timothy hay and pellets (but not too many pellets because they will make them sick and overweight. The next day I thought she was lonely so my dad took me to the pet store to get her sister, Oreo. Red had a bunch of food in her cage, but she wasn't eating it, so right as Oreo leaped in, Oreo started eating her food and Red got really mad and started to nibble faster than Oreo as it looked. My mom told me the first day I got Red and the first day I got Oreo to just leave them alone and let them get settled in, but since they have each other they won't need to leave them alone as long. Later on, maybe about a couple months later, they started getting older and it was time for them to mate. So they started fighting and had to get separate cages. It was only appearing once or twice a month or every two months. Then it started going on for longer periods of time, but not much longer. Then, about maybe half a year, a year and a half later, I took a trip on Easter to South Carolina. That is where my mom's friend lives, and her name is Kathy. She has three guinea pigs, and like you read, I have two.

Finally we arrived in South Carolina, and I couldn't WAIT to go see her pigs. Her guinea pigs' names were Coco, MINI MARSHMALLOW! and Vanilla. Coco is a boy, Mini is a boy, and Vanilla is a girl.

I didn't mention this, but Oreo and Red right now are about 2 1/2 years old and Mini is about 6. They only live till about 8, if they're luck 10 years.

But back to what I was saying. Coco had a white stripe on his nose and I think a white butt and was brown. His name suits him very well as you can see. His hair was very very very soft. Vanilla had very tough hair, but that was just the type of guinea pig she was. She was white and had colic's and had a bit of brown but I don't quite remember where. Mini was treated very very poorly. His cage stunk. His fur was falling out, and he was very stiff because he had broken his leg at one time which I will tell you about later and had sleepies in his eyes and dandruff all over his fur. As you can see in the picture of him at the top, he had a nutmegish and white color. (He is treated very well now and is getting better.)

His story was that Kathy's son, Jack, he's 12 right now, wanted a guinea pig, and his first guinea pig was Coco. He thought Coco was lonely like I thought about Red, so he went to the store and got Vanilla. They fought horribly, and so Kathy was going to take poor little Vanilla back to the pet store--Jack was younger when this happened, so he started crying because he didn't want little Vanilla to go. A little later on, maybe about a year, I'm not quite sure, Jack's father got Mini from a little girl who kept him in a very small rat cage--he was also mistreated there. He forced him on Kathy and said, "Here, Take the pig," so she had no choice but to take the little, poor creature in. A little later on, Jack brought him in for I think show and tell and he went home with one of the kids. The child left him on the couch for maybe about a minute and a half, and he fell off. He broke his leg, but it was not treated, no surgery. I'm not quite sure how it was treated, but I know it was broken. Like I said, he still has four legs, but he got very very stiff. When you pick him up, it makes you feel very very bad and sad.

So back to what I was saying about Easter at Kathy's house. I ran in the room after she told me where they were, and I scanned all three guinea pigs. The first thing I did was pet Coco, but I did not take them out yet. Then I petted Vanilla, then last but not least, I petted what looked to me at the time the weird looking Mini Marshmallow. He was very skittish and he tried to turn away from me and when I pet him literally a big clump of fur came off with all the dandruff. Then I did my rounds of taking the poggles out (pigs). I did the same order: first Coco then Vanilla and the skittish, fat Mini. I first groomed him. I pet him thoroughly, and there was about the size and I am not joking and I mean NOT joking a hairball as big as a baseball. I ran and showed Kathy but my mom kind of gave me a look that said Don't do that. After he was all cleaned, I put him in something called a sheepskin basket--just like a little holder that is really soft and has sheep fur inside--they are really nice. (You can find it at a local pet store if you want one--Pet smart.) Kathy's mom, her nickname is Punk, short for Pumpkin (a nickname inside of a nickname, but I don't quite know her real name) was there.

I don't quite remember what happened in between that, but the next day, I immediately started petting the guinea pigs, but I only did it for a brief moment because I wanted to get to Mini as fast as I possibly could. Yesterday when I cleaned all the sleepies and his fur off of him, I immediately fell in love with him and seemed a bit cuter to me (and not everyone else), and it seemed he was thanking me and being very nice to me, but he was still very stiff and I still felt very very bad for him. I said, "Mommy, see how cute he is," and Kathy and Mom said, "Yeeeeaaaaaaah.....he's adorable." The next day, of course we went back to Kathy's house and, like I said before, I rushed into the room and did my my petting rounds but didn't take them out, only Mini. His eyes were very sorrowful, but he looked at me, and kinda said "Thank you." It's not like he was starving.....or thirsty....it's just that his eyes rolled back in his sockets. He wouldn't eat a lot. He would only eat about one thing and Timothy hay was spread all over his cage. The other guinea pigs were fine, it's just that since Mini wasn't Kathy's favorite, he didn't get as much attention.

It was day three and I would take that pig out every day, and like I said Kathy's mom was there. She made a joke that she didn't recognize me without that pig because I didn't go straight to the pig room today and I walked in to say hi to everybody before I rushed to the pig room. Then after that she said, "Oh there's the little girl. I didn't recognize you without that pig." I think it was the third day that Kathy said, "Why don't you take him?" I had to BEG my mom for about two or three more days. Finally, she said, "If you are good, then I think I will probably consider it."

The last day finally hit, and my mom said yes to taking Mini home I think the night before. Kathy had gotten a box, some newspaper, and some veggies.

I didn't mention this before, but Mini's favorite snack is carrots because like I said his eyes were all rolled back in his sockets and people believe that carrots help your eyes and in carrots there is something called beta-carotene. It has a lot of nutrients and like I said it makes your eyes better, so I can see how he likes carrots. Sadly, neither my mom or Kathy had any carrots, so he had to settle for something called Rainbow Chard, and my pigs love it! Now like I said in my first entry about the crabs, ALL OF THIS STUFF HAS TO BE ORGANIC. We were driving through the mountains in Virginia and it was hitting six o'clock. It took us two days to get there when we were going to South Carolina, but we had been driving since about maybe around 4:00, and it hit 6:00. We found a cheap hotel and slept for about three hours. Kathy gave us an extra sheepskin basket and a carrying case for Mini. Most hotels, in fact almost ALL hotels, don't allow pets, so we had to sneak him in there in his carrier. But we didn't get caught and everything worked out A-OK.

Around 8:00 we drove the rest of the way home and we finally got to my house. Now, I used to live in a Cull-De-sac, and there were about eight girls there of all ages. I was sitting on my porch in the shade with Mini and three of the girls, Annie, Meg, and Madeline came running down yelling, "Hey Sarah, how was your trip?" I said, "Great," and I got a new guinea pig and I showed it to them, but they didn't care much, but they were still happy for me. Meg was in my same class at school, and the school was just around the corner, it was Lawton Elementary. She told me she got two fish and was really excited and I told her, "Good for you."

Mini was at his new home now and I had introduced him to the girls (Kathy said that he fought with Vanilla and Coco, but he seemed to do just fine with Red and Oreo, but they didn't seem to like him very much.). Kathy also gave us an extra cage, so now we have three cages, and there's very little room in my mom's office for them. My friend Lisa had one guinea pig at the time: Carmelita.

We would have piggy play dates and our pigs would LOVE it.

(now she has 3, but Carmelita died so 2. She died of internal bleeding and cancer.)

Lisa had rescued her from the human society and had her for 3 GREAT years.

Her other guinea pigs names are Paprika and Cinnamon.

A year after I got Mini I was doing some research I found a special type of milk.

BUT NOT JUST ANY MILK.

I gave some to all my pigs and to carmileta and mini got better.

I guess thats it.

THE BIGBOY STORY

First off before I start my story I don't have any pictures of Bigboy or anything of his.

BUT I will put a picture of his favorite shell. He was ALMOST big enough to fit into it but not yet. I would also like to say that I love him and all my crabs.

HERE'S MY BIGBOY STORY I WROTE!

This event happened on 10-26-09 (the day Krusty died, but I did not know it yet).

I will tell a little about my crabs and tell you a little bit more about crabs and their death in another entry. (Feel free to check out my coments and or leave one.)

BIGBOY

Last night I decided to pick up my colossal hermit crab, Bigboy (he is the size of a baseball) and he blissfully decided to PEE ON ME.

A couple hours later: I thought, "Well, I guess I could try and pick him up again." I did so, and it happened again!

A couple more hours later: I tried picking him up again and finally nothing happened! He came out and decided to take a trip up to my face! When he reached my hair, he decided to make a nest and do some rearranging! He grabbed my hair with his little claw and sat tight for awhile! Before you could say, "Jack Robinson," I pulled him off and guess what came off my head? HAIR! He is a very active crab. If you pick him up he almost falls out of his shell, then pops in for four seconds then pops right back out!

But back to what I was saying. After that I was lying flat on my mom's bed watching TV.

I put him back on my leg, and he decided to take a road trip up to my face! After sitting on my shoulder for half an hour, he made a trip across my neck which tickled and hurt horrifically. Then he went to my other shoulder. I gently put him back in his aquarium.

Well, that was my crabby night!

MY ANIMALS

I have 5 animals. That simple. I have three guinea pigs and two crabs. My guinea pigs' names are Oreo, Red, and Mini.

My crabs' names are Eugene and Fuzzwuzz. I got Eugene from the Humane Society and got my picture on the website (http://www.hshv.org/ -- and you can find me in the Kids' Corner with the headline, "Sarah Adopts Steve McQueen"). I got Fuzzwuzz from your regular pet store (Petsmart) and I have had six crabs total in my life. Their names were Krusty (here's a picture of his shell), Coral (was very, very small), KC, and Big Boy--he was the size of a baseball. Later in my blog I will show you the story I wrote about him. Krusty and Coral were my first two crabs, and about a week later I got KC. Then I got Eugene, then Fuzzwuzz and Big Boy. When I brought Fuzzwuzz home, he drank off the sponge for about literally two hours and Krusty was getting very upset because that was his place. He would sleep next to the sponge because he was sometimes dehydrated.

Krusty, KC, Big Boy, and Coral are dead now. KC was the first to go, then Coral, then Krusty. Krusty was my favorite. He was very special. Then Big Boy. KC died of a shell disease that when you don't boil the hermit crab shells if another crab has already been in it, they can get a disease from the other crab. Coral liked to crawl under the water dish and I think was crushed or she had a disease where her legs fell off. Krusty was sick for awhile, but made it through most of it, got better, and got sick again and died when he was molting his skin. Big Boy died because the temperature was changing from different rooms and that makes their legs fall off. They can normally regenerate their legs, but he was very sick.

I take very good care of my crabs. I have a big aquarium, coconut bark (sand makes them sick), and give them socializing time and let them outside. None of my crabs ever die without at least going out and playing in the grass once. Do not do this if you have pesticides on your lawn. I always make sure they have water and food. Krusty used to eat some of the fat that my mom made out of her stocks and it was very good for them because they are scavengers and are not very picky.

A girl I know has two crabs named Herman and Holly, and I helped her get an aquarium, coconut bark, and everything you need for crabs to be healthy because her crabs were 1) their legs were getting chipped and looked horrible and 2) Herman couldn't fit in his shell and right as we went and got him a new shell he changed right, and I mean RIGHT away.

I have learned through all of my experiences with my crabs dying how to take care of them and I have read a lot more and learned a lot more. These are some of the things you need if you have crabs. You can find all these things in your local pet store. (These are land crabs I'm talking about). A sponge for them to drink off--There's a picture of one and something else called a cuttle bone (When you give it to them break it up into tiny pieces.) hat gives them a lot of nutrients and there is also a picture of one. Make sure you don't put any tap water in the sponge--it should be good-quality water or they will get sick and die because there are chemicals in the water, a big aquarium (but it doesn't have to be really big), FISH food (don't ever get hermit crab food) called Top Fin Small Freeze Dried Medley and cubic worms also by Top Fin. The worms are not alive, obviously. A heater, but it can't go on the bottom because they will fry--it should go on the side. And a water dish that has two holders, one for water and two for food. It is okay to mix the cubic worms and medley together. Make sure they also have tons of color in their diet like apples, oranges, papaya, coconut, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, carrots, and leafy greens. If you pick up some grass from outside (no pesticides), my crabs love to burrow in it and the coconut bark. Don't be alarmed if you don't find them. Keep in mind they won't always eat the same things, and if they don't eat, don't be alarmed either. Never dig them up because it could disturb them and make them sick for some reason. They also need to have some good meat and it has to be grass-fed and organic. Never raw. Sometimes it can even be fish. The can eat anything that doesn't have spices or preservatives, but BE CAREFUL.
